Red Cabbage
Ingredients
- 1 head red cabbage , shredded or finely chopped
- 1 red onion , shredded or finely chopped
- 3 apples , shredded or finely chopped
- salt and pepper , to taste
- 2 T shortening
- ¼ C brown sugar
- 1 T white vinegar
- small amount of water
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a large pot with a little water. Cook on medium high heat, stirring occasionally. Test a spoonful once in a while to taste if too sweet or sour, and add a little brown sugar if too sour or a little vinegar if too sweet. It’s all about finding the taste you want.
